Sony where are you? Shall I come to pick you up?.........It was dad :)
Great! Well this was the first time at work that I stayed late night after 6 pm and was indulged in coding so much that I forgot I missed my bus at 6.30 pm.Well it feels great to work after two months on bench.
I told dad , I will start by 8 pm you can come and pick up around 9.30 pm.
While I was replying, I got to remember a day when I was asked not to have food for a day for violating my family tradition.Well it may look surprising as to think what might be the story.
The only reason sharing this story is to show how a man changes himself in less time for his daughter and never changes himself for his wife :P
That was around late night 12 on August 18th 2012 when knocked door of my house and all family members had a strange look at once on me.
dad--So how many companies did you get placed?
me--Its two dad! Infosys and Accenture both.
dad--which one did u decide to join?
me--don't know.
My father scream on me.He already warned me not to attend any placement where I need to get relocate.
dad-Did you have your dinner?
me-No.
dad-No need ! Don't have it.Its a punishment.
And he went to sleep.
Mom: Her face had a glow.She was very happy.She also had the so called Happy tears(Aananda bhashpalu, Khushi ke asooo..)
When my brothers came to me and asked so what gift are we going to get on your first salary.
Meanwhile mom made some nice hot pakodi and she brought it to me.I told no mom i don't want to have it.She told why will you take your dad's words so serious ? Have food for my sake.finally i had it.
Dad dint speak to me for more than a week.
Now let me tell you the reason behind his anger.
Coming to my family, they had different traditions .
1.Girls must not get educated--I violated it because of my sweet mother who struggled to get me into school.
2.Girls must not step out of house-I always broke it by going to school,college, and traveling long distance to complete my graduation.
3.Girls must not work outside well they can work like beast at home.
My dad was not so much concerned with above two but was very particular and strict on third one.
August 16 2012 , My life's first placement , i was getting ready and dad says , i am not going to allow her to work.
But i went and grabbed job also.
August 18th 2012, while dropping me at college he warned me I am not going to send you to another place,don't attend Infosys placement.Well i was going to attend that in next few minutes.
At around 3 pm i called up mom and said i cleared written exam and waiting for my HR round , dad picked up phone and said , you girl you cheated me , I am not going to come to your college to pick you up at late night , Come back right now!!
I cried ! One of my professors saw me and said if you started end it and go .Don't worry we have a bus towards that route.
Finally a time passed dad consulted many people and he himself told me to join infosys. He helped me all the way long to get all formalities to be done and even dropped me at Mysore campus.
I was away from home for around 8 months.Never again this discussion came back.
I was happy that I violated our third tradition also.
Today 12th September 2013 , he calls me up and asks when will you come home , shall I come to pick you up. I find lots of happiness in these words.
Being an illiterate he moulded lifes of his five sisters but always followed all traditions which i hate.
I always feel proud that he moulded himself for his daughter and that mee..........
Different people have different experiences but i don't think some one has got this experience..........??
Got placed and went home and you get scolded...... hahahahaha
